Title

Can I leave my wife for more than four months?

Question

I live in Saudi Arabia and visit once in two years. I heard that one cannot live without his wife for more than two months. Could you please clarify this for me.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible to live without your wife for more than two months with her consent. A husband and wife living apart without divorce does not affect the validity of the Nikah
