Question

as salam alaikum, can you please tell me the ruling about oral sex? is it haraam to do it? jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Shariah has emphasized on modesty and shame. Consider the following Ahadeeth on modesty and shame:

1. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“If you do not have shame, do as you wish”.

2. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Hayaa (modesty) is part of Eemaan”

3.  Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Hayaa (modesty) is only goodness”

4. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Hayaa (modesty) and Eemaan are partners, if anyone of them is removed, then the other is also removed”

5. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“ Eeman consists of 70 /60 ought branches, the highest is to say La Ilaha Illa Allah, and the lowest is remove a harmful object from the road and Hayaa (modesty) is a branch of Eemaan”

The above Ahadeeth indicate the importance of Hayaa and modesty in Islam.

It is against the dictates of shame and modesty that the same limb of the body which recites the Qur’an and makes the Zikr of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) be used for such an act. The Fuqahaa (Jurists) have ruled that it is Makrooh Tahreemi (reprehensible) for one to do such an act.
