Can one make Istikhara before meeting the proposed spouse?

Assalamualaikum, I have got a proposal for marriage and I wanted to know if I could do Istekhara before meeting the person? I have said yes to meet the person but I am very scared of rejection. The person and his family will come soon In Sha Allah to meet me. JazakAllah

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

May Almighty Allah grant you a suitable and compatible spouse. Aameen.

The purpose of Istikharah is to seek goodness (طلب الخير) from Allah Ta’ala in whatever one intends to do. [1]

We do not know what you mean by rejection. Nevertheless, since you agreed for the person to meet you, it is advisable to continue that and make Istikharah thereafter.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
