Working as a Travel Agent


Please help me, I am working for a travel agency in which my job profile is to take calls regarding changes of flight ticket and booking seats, meals and other travel assiatance. We have corporate clients like banks and other corporate companies who purchase our travel service and then if they required any assistance then they call us and i as an agent assist them with their query. i am working in this company for more them 2 year but now they have hired a new processed of XXX bank . SO xxx bank provides credit card to their customers and when customer use their credit card they get free points which they use to purchase travel voucher and they use those vouchers for making bkng on XXX travels website which is desined by the company i am working in. Now my company has shifted me to that xxx bank process where i get calls related to travel query and even my call opening is "welcome to XXX domestic travel support. How may I help you". I am still on my companys payroll but my company is being paid by that XXX bank. Please let me know if my income is halal or not and if not then what action do i need to take?

We commend you for your sensitivity on earning Halaal and abstaining from Haraam. It is this attitude that brings Barakah (blessings) in one’s earnings.

According to the information you have provided, you are working as a travel agent and your company remunerates you. Therefore, your income will be Halaal. [1]

القسم الثالث: ما وضع لاغراض عامة ويمكن استعماله فى حالتها الموجودة فى مباح او غيره...

والظاهر من مذهب الحنفية انهم يجيزون بيع هذا القسم وان كان معظم منافعه محرما...

ولكن جواز البيع فى هذه الاشياء بمعنى صحة العقد اما الاثم فيتأتى فيه ما ذكرناه فى شروط العاقد من انه اذا كان يقصد به معصية بائعا او مشتريا فالبيع يكره تحريما وذلك اما بنية فى القلب او بالتصريح فى العقد ان البيع يقصد به محذور. اما اذا خلا العقد من الامرين ولا يعلم البائع بيقين انه يستعمله فى مجذور فلا اثم فى بيعه. وان علم البائع انه يستعمله فى محذور وكان سببا قريبا داعيا الى المعصية فيكره له البيع تحريما. وان كان سببا بعيدا لا يكره. مثل بيع الحديد من أهل الحرب أو أهل البغي
